After two highly enjoyable and successful years in Scotland, the twelfth Wind Band Festival is moving to Southern England and takes place between Friday 22nd October and Sunday 24th October.
The venue is the Europa Hotel Gatwick. The hotel is far enough from the airport so that no aeroplanes will disturb your music making or indeed your sleep, yet close enough to ensure a fast and convenient airport transfer if you are travelling by air. This 3 star, 211 bedroom hotel is set in beautiful grounds. It has a style all of its own, with heavy influences from Spanish and Mediterranean architecture. Enjoy a drink in the secluded courtyard garden, or gaze at its central fountain over a carvery meal in the restaurant. A leisure club offers ample opportunities to relax or work-out (when not making music), with a heated indoor swimming pool and gym among the facilities.
For those travelling by air, transfers to and from Gatwick airport are available at a small additional cost. With its own junction on the M23 and with Wi-Fi internet access, the Europa Hotel Gatwick is well connected in every sense.
The cost for the weekend will be £170 per person (resident) and £60 (non-resident) inclusive of all music making, entertainment and tea/coffee when served. The resident’s fee is full board - 2 nights’ dinner, bed and breakfast and Saturday and Sunday lunch. The non-resident’s fee includes Friday dinner. A single room supplement of £20 per person is payable.
This year’s festival is being hosted by The Bagshot Concert Band from Surrey. As is now the custom at our Festival, the host band will be presenting an evening of social entertainment and dancing on Friday, which promises to be as exciting as in previous years!
The Festival committee hopes to supply music stands and large instruments such as tubas, euphoniums etc so you don’t have to worry about transporting them to Gatwick - please check the availability of instruments with the committee prior to attending the Festival.
